A Tape That Bends With You

Most tape is either too stiff to sit on a curve or too soft to bridge a gap. This one is a thin aluminium skin over a butyl rubber layer: the foil holds the shape of the crack, the rubber does the sealing. You can fold it into a corner, run it along a pipe and still press it flat.

Two layers, two jobs. The aluminium coating is the face that takes the sun, the rain and the scrape of a broom; the butyl rubber under the peel-off film is the part that actually holds. It stays permanently tacky rather than drying out into a hard film, which is why it can hold on a surface that moves a little.

Press It Down Hard

The adhesive does not grab on contact — it grabs when it is pressed. Work from the middle of the strip outwards so the air has somewhere to go, then go over the whole length with your thumb, a cloth or a roller. Lay it on without stretching it, or the ends will creep back up later.

How to Use

1. Clean the area, degrease it, strip off any old silicone or loose material and let it dry completely.
2. Cut the tape to length and peel the backing film off the adhesive side.
3. Place it over the crack or seam without stretching it, then press from the centre outwards to push the air out.
4. Go over the whole strip again with firm pressure, and give the bond time to set before it meets heavy water or stress.
